UAP Brunei Chapter Participates in NAW 2014
National Architecture Week in the Philippines is officially held every year on the 2nd of December. This year, the NAW 2014 was held on 8 to 13 December with the theme "The Filipino Architect at the Forefront of the ASEAN 2015".
The UAP Brunei Chapter kicked off the NAW celebration in Brunei with an Architectural Clinic at the Pasko ng Pinoy 2014 held on 7 December at the Scout Center. Pasko ng Pinoy is a yearly Christmas program celebrated with the Filipino community in Brunei, thus, it was an ideal venue to reach as many Filipinos in Brunei as possible.
The Philippine Ambassador to Brunei, His Excellency Mr. Nestor Z. Ochoa, accompanied by his lovely wife Mrs. Mayi Ochoa and the FAB President Mdm. Edel Bartholomew and FAB Treasurer Mrs. Malou Wong, visiting the Architectural Clinic table manned by the UAP Brunei Chapter members.
Aside from giving free architectural consultation or advise, the Architectural Clinic at the Pasko ng Pinoy also aimed to start the campaign 'sa Arkitekto Sigurado' among Filipinos working in Brunei. The UAP Brunei Chapter wore their black t-shirts printed with 'sa Arkitekto Sigurado' to get the message across.
On 8 December 2014, the informational display on ASEAN Integration Primer for Architects
and a feature on Leandro V. Locsin's Istana Nurul Iman and Felino Palafox's Philippine Embassy was officially opened by the Philippine Ambassador to Brunei, His Excellency Mr. Nestor Z. A few of the UAP Brunei Chapter officers and members were there to witness the opening. The display was open to the public and ran for the whole duration of the National Architecture Week.
The National Architecture Week 2014 activities were made possible through the efforts of the Committee on External Affairs with the help of the Chapter members.
