UAP BN Bags First Basketball Win

The UAP Brunei Chapter ended their basketball campaign on a triumphant note after defeating PICE in an exciting game. For the 2nd year, the Chapter has participated in the Inter-Organization Basketball tournament organized by the Filipino Association (FA) to promote greater unity and camaraderie among Filipino associations in Brunei. During the opening ceremony held on 24 June 2017, UAP BN won the special award for Best Uniform (refer to photo below). It was noted that the tournament commenced when the Chapter was about to end its fiscal year for 2016-2017. Thus, it shall be carried through to the next fiscal year as one of its socio-activities. The UAP BN basketball team will not be denied this time. It was indeed a very jubilant UAP BN basketball team going home with a scintillating win over the PICE basketball team as the Chapter registered its first ever win in the Filipino Association (FA) Basketball tournament held on 19 August at the Batu Bersurat Basketball Court, Pengkalan Gadong. A sweet vengeance from last year’s tournament loss against the same team. The determination and hunger to win was very evident on each player’s faces from the start of the game. Teamwork, strong defense, and great offense were in display which led to the Team’s success. The victory marked a sign of much improvement on the team’s preparation this year compared to its previous campaign. The addition of Sherwin Antonio, Rommel Magtoto, Dante Nicdao and Josh Filio has provided much-needed depth to the Team. Some Chapter Members together with their families and friends came in full force to show their moral support and cheer for the basketball team which eventually paid off. The final score recorded was 67-62. Bagging the Best Player of the game award was Rommel Magtoto from the graduate auxiliary. Right after the game, the group proceeded to Jollibee Seri branch to celebrate the hard-fought victory. The Chapter President and the rest of the Executive Board were on hand to thank everyone for the incredible display of unity from the first until the last game of the Team.
