Courtesy Call Visit with the Philippine Ambassador

On the 14th of August 2019, the UAP Brunei Chapter, led by Chapter President Ar. Dominic N. Cordova has paid a courtesy call to the new Ambassador Mr. Christopher B. Montero, Ambassador-designate at the Philippine Embassy in Brunei (PEB). Together with the Chapter President were the majority members of the Chapter Board of Directors, namely Ar. Charles Lyndsey N. Gloria, Chapter VP for Programs and Development, Ar. Christheart Anthony B. Corral, Chapter VP for Operations, Ar. Romeo J. Nabong II, Chapter Secretary, Ar. Orville J. Dulce, Chapter Treasurer, Ar. Albert M. Abarintos, Chapter Auditor, Ar. Rafael M. Robea, Director for Committee on Professional Development and Ar. Jonathan J. Amado, Committee on External Affairs. Also in the attendance was Cultural Officer and Attache, Rose Paz Narvaja-Cornista.

During the meeting, the group introduced the organization, its present national corporate thrusts - Able, United and Proactive and the chapter theme "Masigasig at Nagkakaisang Dayong Arkitekto”. The Chapter has also informed the Ambassador about the activities the Chapter will be undertaking in the fiscal year 2019-2020 aligned with the national directives. Among the major activities are the 5th Chapter Anniversary and Induction Ceremony on 12 September 2019, the upcoming National Architecture Week, World Architecture Day and some potential CSR projects. Finally, the Chapter have mentioned to the good ambassador about the newsletter the Chapter plans to embark with this fiscal year in adherence to UAP National’s campaign and advocacy.

Ambassador Montero mentioned some programs of the Embassy to the OFWs in general that could start within the year such as identification card system which will be free of charge and Sunday consulate services to OFW's. Further, the Ambassador has thought about the ideas where the Chapter and the PEB can possibly collaborate, such as to look into the Phase 2 project of the Philippine Embassy and the proposed ambassador's residence. This two proposed projects will be revisited to further discuss in due time. The good Ambassador did also asked the Chapter of holding similar seminar talks to OFW's with pertains to the architect's role in the society & building construction processes in Philippine setting.

Ambassador Montero expressed his delight in getting to know more about the Filipino professional organizations like the UAP Brunei Chapter, its concern, and issues affecting each profession and how would the Embassy could help to address these matter.

The courtesy visit started at around 5:18 PM and ended at 6:25 PM.
