The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam thru the office the Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam H.E. Christopher B. Montero has hosted the United Architects of the Philippines Brunei Chapter and the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Brunei Chapter for a “thanksgiving dinner” held last 16 October 2020 at the Philippine Ambassador’s Residence in Simpang 185-25 JalanTungku, Kg. Gadong, Brunei Darussalam. This kind invitation from the Philippine Embassy was in a show of gratitude to both organizations in relation to the proposed PH Ambassador residence, which has been dormant for quite some time until it was revived by the present Ambassador Montero. With the assistance from the professional organizations such as the UAPBN & PICE-B, Ambassador Montero is hoping that this longtime dream of having its own ambassador’s residence in Brunei could turn into reality someday in his term. Anyhow, the first milestone step is at least has been done so far. It is anticipated that later on, other allied professional organizations like the IIEE and PSME will also be on-board as well.
It was really indeed a wonderful experience for the invited guests to see for themselves the actual residence of the Ambassador at the moment in order to get some ideas and references on how will his future residence be planned and designed. Of course, it should not be that so lavish and grand. It is essential that the initial design inputs should incorporate and showcase Filipino culture and identity. Initial engineering works such as topo survey has already been conducted by PICE-B and will be shared to UAPBN upon availability. Further details with regards to design concepts will be worked out soon as the matter has to be discussed again by the Chapter especially in creating its volunteer design team. The Chapter, on the other hand, is very thankful as well as Ambassador Montero recognizes the importance of the architects in this kind of undertaking.
After touring the residence, the invited guests from both organizations have taken the opportunity to have some photos alongside Ambassador Montero to his delight.
The function has started at around 7:30 PM and ended at around 10:15 PM.
